Personal information
Eldon "Cub" Roy Welch enlisted in the US Navy on 21 January 1942. After training he was assigned to the Armed Guards, surviving the sinking of Sylvan Arrow and later serving aboard the US steam merchant Beauregard. He joined USS LST-715 upon completion in August 1944, eventually became a Gunner's Mate First Class and was released from the US Navy on 6 December 1945.
