Personal information
Charles Frederick Paull had joined Helen Moller just before she sailed from Colombo and was on watch on the bridge when the ship was torpedoed. The second officer found him dazed after the explosion and fetched a lifebelt for him as he knew that the master could not swim. Apparently Charles recovered quickly from the shock, gave the order to abandon ship and oversaw the launch of the lifeboats, but insisted to be the last to leave the ship and was lost when the ship sank.
