Personal information
Son of Henry J. and Annie S. Burrow; husband of Doris Burrow (nee Panchen) and father of John and Ada Shirley, of Gosport, Hampshire. Henry George Sanders Burrow had joined the Royal Navy as Boy Artificer in 1916. He was assigned to the accounting base HMS President III and returning to the UK aboard the Orcades when she was torpedoed. Henry volunteered to remain aboard and tried to save her while the others abandoned ship, but was lost when the ship eventually sank.
