Personal information
Ture Alexander Andersson was a big and strong man and called "Starke Arvid" by his crew and unwisely decided to remain on Tolken after she was torpedoed in May 1942. He wore no life west and almost went down in the suction of the sinking ship, but rose to the surface in an oil bubble and clung to a piece of debris after it hit him on the head until picked up by a lifeboat. After the war he told his son jokily that he was the first man in the lifeboats when Pegasus was sunk. Ture stayed home after his second sinking and only returned to sea after the war ended.
