Personal information
Son of Walter Leslie and Estella Rayfield Hargraves; husband of Geneva Brown Hargraves, of Port Arthur, TX. Rodger P. Hargraves had served a 3 year enlistment with the US Coast Guard, ending in September 1941. When the US entered the war after Pearl Harbor he rejoined immediately.
When USCGC Alexander Hamilton was sunk Hargraves was assumed dead for almost two weeks but he had been assigned to go with the wounded men to Iceland.
