Personal information
Seamen's Welfare Officer. Husband of Jemima Brown, of Wallasey, Cheshire. Ramsay Brown was awarded a Commendation when Master of the British steam merchant Glenshiel which was sunk by the Japanese submarine I-7 in the Indian Ocean on 2 April 1942. He was also the master of the British motor merchant Deucalion which was sunk by air attacks en route to Malta during Operation Pedestal on 12 August 1942 and was awarded the DSC for his bravery and dauntless resolution.
