James Noel Newman from Goole, East Yorkshire, was at the helm of Dinaric when she was attacked and remembers that he saw the torpedo approaching, but there was nothing that could be done to evade it. His hearing was permanently damaged as a result of the blast and has been quite deaf ever since.
