Personal information
Son of Max and Dina Kurtz Bronstein, of Manchester, NH. "Ben" Richard Bronstein graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1936, then from Tufts College Medical School at Boston in 1940. Dr. Bronstein was appointed Assistant Surgeon, Medical Corps with the rank of Lieutenant (junior grade) on 4 October 1941. He reported on board USS Jacob Jones late in December 1941.
The destroyer escort USS Bronstein (DE 189) was named in his honor, sponsored by his mother at Newark, New Jersey on 14 November 1943.
