Notes on event | At 18.55 hours on 2 April 1943, U-124 attacked convoy OS-45 about 320 miles west of Oporto and sank the Katha and Gogra. The U-boat was lost after this attack. Six crew members from the Katha (Master Samuel Thomson) were lost. The master, 53 crew members and nine gunners were picked up by the British steam merchant Danby and HMS La Malouine (K 46) (Lt V.D.H. Bidwell, RNR), transferred to the Canadian steam merchant New Northland and landed at Freetown. | ||
