Notes on event | On 2 May 1942 the Jutland (Master John Henderson) in convoy PQ-15 was torpedoed and damaged by a German torpedo aircraft of I/KG 26 south of Bear Island. One passenger was lost. The master, 53 crew members and eight passengers abandoned ship and were picked up by HMS Badsworth (L 03) (Lt G.T.S. Gray, DSC, RN) and landed at Murmansk on 6 May. At 00.14 hours on 3 May 1942 the abandoned Jutland was torpedoed and sunk by U-251. | ||
