Victoria Cross (VC)
The Victoria Cross (VC) is the highest military decoration awarded to members of the armed forces of Commonwealth countries and former British Empire territories. It is awarded for "most conspicuous bravery, or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice, or extreme devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy." There were 182 Victoria Crosses awarded to 181 persons for gallantry during Second World War. |
