Career information
Joined Gloucester Regiment as a signaller in 1914. Transferred to Royal Navy as lieut. R.N.R. and served on an armed merchantman. Escort and patrol work from 1915 to 1919 in WW 1. Commander, Captain and Commodore R.N.R. in Royal Navy in WW 2. Served on convoys on British east coast, Atlantic, Mediterranean and to Murmansk Russia. Was on the staff of Commander-in-Chief, Western Approaches and also was present as R.N.R. officer at surrender of Hong Kong by Japan to British in 1945.
