Corvette HMCS Barrie (K 138)
9 Feb 1942
The British merchant Empire Fusilier is torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-85 southeast of St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada in position 44°45'N, 47°25'W. HMCS Barrie (Skr.Lt. G.N. Downey, RCNR) later picks up 38 survivors.
Corvette HMCS Buctouche (K 179)
7 Jul 1942
HMCS Buctouche (Skr.Lt. G.N. Downey, RCNR) picked up 15 survivors from the Norwegian merchant Moldanger. The Moldanger was torpedoed and sunk on 27 June 1942 in position 38°03'N, 70°52'W by German U-boat U-404.
Frigate HMCS Joliette (K 418)
22 Nov 1944
HMCS Joliette (A/Lt.Cdr.G.N. Downey, RCNR) ran aground in Lough Foyle, causing extensive damage to her hull. She was repaired at Belfast from 5 December 1944 until 5 April 1945.
