Career information
Capt Francis De Winton was CO Keppel & SO 13DF 31/5/39-1/12/39 when he moved ashore as Capt D13 @ Gibraltar "Cormorant" from 1/12/39-1/41. For specific operations he was afloat on either
HMS Keppel or
HMS Gallant. From 18/1/41-24/1/42 he commanded Rosyth Escort Force "Cochrane". From 9/10/44-16/8/45 he was Capt(D) Liverpool from the shore base "Defender". From 25/9/45-circa 4/46 he was Capt in Charge Freetown "Eland" until the post was disbanded.
