HMCS Quinte (T/Lt. C.A. Nicol, RCNR) was damaged after running aground at the entrance to St. Peter's Canal, Cape Breton. Quinte had just completed a refit before she went aground and was beached to prevent sinking. Salvage operations were conducted over the winter of 1943. Repairs were not completed until June 1944, after which she was assigned to training duties.
