HMS Man o’ War (T/Lt. G.L. Coles, RNVR) picks up 90 survivors from the British merchant City of Perth that was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-77 about 52 miles west of Oran in position 35°50'N, 01°41'W. The armed trawler also takes the damaged ship in tow until being relieved by HMRT Restive the next morning.
