Career information
In the book Air Raid, Pearl Harbor: recollections of a day of infamy there is a short bio on Arthur Howard McCollum. He graduated from Annapolis in 1921 and then studied Japanese for 3 years and then went through submarine training. He commanded the O-7 and then served as XO on the S-11.
After the war he took part in forming the Central Intelligence Group which became the CIA. He retired from the Navy in 1951 but remained with the CIA until 1953.
