Ranee succesfully completed her sea trials. She was accepted and commissioned as HM ship three day later while at at Tacoma, Washington, USA.

HMS Ranee (A/Capt. J.S. Metcalf, DSC, RD, RNR) departed Manchester, Washington, USA for Vancouver, British Columbia. She was to be taken in hand for modifications and further outfitting to meet Royal Navy standards at Esquimalt.
21 Jan 1944
HMS Ranee (A/Capt. J.S. Metcalf, DSC, RD, RNR) arrived at the Puget Sound Navy Yar from Vancouver, British Columbia. The ship had received only minimal alterations to enable her to be used as aircraft ferry. She would later have to return to Esquimalt to complete the alterations to enable her to be used opertionally along Royal Navy standards.
