Career information
Morice Grant Macleod was born on 1st September 1915, only son of Kenneth Grant Macleod, International rugby player for Scotland and county cricketer with Lancashire, and Olive Millicent Macleod (nee Blood) (who died in January 1916). Morice played rugby for the Royal Navy and the United Services in 1939. Till May 1939 he was attached to the Admiralty yacht HMS Enchantress. He married a society lady, the Hon. Görel Gyllenkrok, at St Cuthbert’s Church in Edinburgh on 6th November, 1939. Görel was daughter of Lt. Col. the Hon. Sperling Gyllenkrok of Stockholm, who had been equerry to the King of Sweden. At one time Morice was Commander on HMS Valorous (1943-44) and was appointed aide-de-camp to the Duke of Gloucester for his stay in Australia as Governor-General (1945-47). He died in May 1972, aged 56, leaving a son and a daughter.
