At 05.49 hours on 11 April 1943, the German U-boat U-188 attacked convoy ON-176 and sank HMS Beverley (Lt.Cdr. R.A. Price, RN). Only four survivors out of a crew of 155 were picked up by the British corvette HMS Clover (Lt. P.H. Grieves, RNR).
